The One Town One Product (OTOP) is a priority program of government to promote entrepreneurship and job creation. OTOP Philippines supports micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to manufacture, offer and market distinctive products or services through the use of indigenous raw materials and local skills and talents.
Ecological Tourism
The principle of endemism based on the ecological-cultural and socio-political character of Batanes is the primary basis and foundation of the provincial development strategy to preserve the Ivatan culture and the natural endowments and beauty of the whole environment.
The province is developed as a niche market to guard against adverse effects in cultural values, habitation, environment, food supply, and basic social services.
Handicrafts
The Ivatan’s innate creativity and craftsmanship transform Batanes’ indigenous materials and flora into environment-friendly gift items, decorations, housewares, bags and fashion accessories.
Food
On account of Batanes’ geography, farming and fishing are the main sources of food and income of the Ivatans. Vegetables are raised without the use of chemical fertilizers while root crops have been one of the major agricultural products of the province. The sea waters, on the other hand, are aplenty, especially from March to May, with dibang (flying fish) and arayo (jacket fish or dorado). The lobsters also make for a truly memorable visit to the province.
